I’m not sure what to think about the direction this trilogy may be going with, especially with only one book remaining. Bryn’s humanity is being tested as much as her role of being an Alpha. Book 2 is a far different tone from the first book. The tension and pain – through no fault of her own – was palpable. So it was hard to watch her struggle to protect her pack without help in the face of such impossible odds. I’m not sure if I could still stand after everything she’s been through. My Review : Trial By Fire was a tough read but not necessarily in a bad way.īryn is such a great person – kind, lovable and loyal. To be alpha, she will have to give in to her own animal instincts and become less human. With threats-old and new-looming, and danger closing in from all sides, Bryn will have to accept what her guardian Callum knew all along. Before collapsing, he tells her his name is Lucas, he’s a Were, and Bryn’s protection is his only hope.īut Lucas isn’t part of Bryn’s pack, and she has no right to claim another alpha’s Were. Then she finds a teenage boy bleeding on her front porch. Bryn is finally settling into her position as alpha of the Cedar Ridge Pack-or at least, her own version of what it means to be alpha when you’re a human leading a band of werewolves.
